MONUSCO Peacekeepers Return to Panzi Hospital Amid Threats Against Dr. Denis Mukwege

A Statement from the Dr. Denis Mukwege Foundation and Panzi Foundation USA

We are grateful that MONUSCO peacekeepers returned to Panzi Hospital this morning, to ensure the safety of our Founder/Special Advisor and 2018 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, Dr. Denis Mukwege, as well as his family, patients and staff. The outcries for his protection did not fall on deaf ears, as evidenced by MONUSCO’s return today. We call on the United Nations and the wider international community to remain committed to finding effective and sustained solutions to ensure the protection of Dr. Mukwege.
